Q1'10release brings a wealth of significant data source connection improvements, as well as a new data processing engine, which will redefine the term "working with data". Not only will you have full control over your data, but you will be able to do in a simple, intuitive manner, through wizards, which require little to no coding. Telerik is also introducing new concepts in the way data is managed and calculated, which deliver significant gains in rendering performance and memory consumption.

  • New SqlDataSource and ObjectDataSource Components allow you to connect report items (Report, Table/Crosstab/List, and Chart) to different types of data sources such as database or middle-tier business objects, declaratively, and without requiring code.
  • New User Defined/Calculated Fields give you the freedom to use field values in formulas.
  • New Data Source Parameters are used to limit the data retrieved from the data source to just the data needed for the report.
  • New New Data Processing Engine provides developers with full control over data and gives them an easy way to populate the report with data.
  • New User Aggregate Functions that will reuse already calculated values in other functions, without the need to recalculate the results again and again.
  • New Bindings add simple binding of report parameters and most properties of a report item to an expression.
  • Improved Performance and Optimized OLAP Engine outperforms previous versions with up to 400% (for calculation-intensive reports) in rendering time, and about 50% in memory consumption.
