Classic Paging
WebGrid.NET Enterprise is famous with its VirtualLoad™ paging mode since its first release in year 2003. In its sixth generation, WebGrid.NET Enterprise now comes with traditional (classic) paging in addition to the VirtualLoad paging mode.
Due to popular demand, classic paging is finally here being one of the most wanted features in WebGrid.NET Enterprise. Although VirtualLoad paging is best suitable for modern Web application, many end users still prefer to use classic paging mode. Classic paging mode is defined by a set of navigation controls (such as First, Previous, Next and Last) to control the active page. In classic paging, the total number of visible rows is a constant number (eg, 25).

WebGrid.NET Enterprise 6.0 provides three built-in user interface styles for the classic paging feature. The paging styles are:

• FirstPrevNextLast style. This is the default value of paging style UI. This style includes the basic commands for navigating between pages. It also includes a handy “Jump To” interface accessible through dropdown menu.

• SimpleDropDown style. In the scenario where the screen real estate is limited, this paging style is the most recommended, as it includes only basic navigation commands presented in simple and minimalistic design.

• Slider style. This new innovative style resembles modern slider bar for intuitive navigation in minimalistic fashion. This style is perfect for every rich Web application that demand sophisticated user experience.

The Slider style paging UI introduces a new user experience to navigate between long pages. Instead of showing numerous different paging commands, Slider style sports a sleek, minimalist and visually compelling user interface in the status bar to let users perform data navigation in a smart and smoother experience.
Thanks to the new Classic Paging in WebGrid.NET Enterprise™ 6.0, now you can combine it together with LiveFreeze™ column freezing, grouping, filtering, editing and other features to create high performance and effective, thin-client data-driven Web application.
Pivot Charting
WebGrid.NET Enterprise® 6.0 redefines data visualization concept by introducing a new breakthrough Pivot Charting feature. The Pivot Charting is offered as built-in feature, including the automatic data processing and data aggregation. With Pivot Charting feature, transforming raw data from the Grid View into a stunning Chart View is only a matter of single button click.

For those of you who are not familiar with the term Pivot Charting, it is a powerful data analysis and visualization tool that enables you to present your dataset in multiple viewpoints. Pivot Charting allows you to look at data in several dimensions; for example, sales by region, sales by sales rep, sales by product category, sales by month, etc. Such capability is provided in numerous decision support applications under various function names. The Pivot Charting terminology is first introduced in Microsoft Excel XP and Microsoft Access XP.
WebGrid.NET Enterprise® 6.0 takes data presentation and visualization component to a new level by providing “out-of-the-box” Pivot Charting functionalities such as those provided in Microsoft Access® 2007. The core functions of Pivot Charting included in WebGrid.NET Enterprise 6.0 are:

• Ability to specify multiple fields to Data, Series, Categories and Filter. This function allows you to create multi-dimensional viewpoint of your data.
• Ability to specify one of the aggregation methods for each Data field. The default aggregation method is Count.
• Ability to perform auto filtering. You can easily slice your data by excluding the category or series that you don’t want to see in the visualized Chart.
• Ability to sort Category and Series field automatically in ascending or descending way. This function enables you to quickly display sorted data in the visualized Chart.
• Ability to switch between Category and Series fields in one button click. This function enables you to easily inspect your data in different perspective.
• Ability to break down DateTime field into five time intervals automatically. This powerful function automatically breaks down DateTime field into the following time intervals: Year, Quarter, Month, Week, Date. In the fraction of seconds, you can now visualize a series of data grouped by any time interval you preferred. For instance, order date in quarterly interval.

Drag and Drop is one of the Key Feature in Pivot Charting User Interface, you can conveniently drag a field from Chart Field List to any of four available drop zones. You can also drag any field element from any drop zone to another in the same way and manner as in Microsoft Access® 2007.
Furthermore when you drag a field element there will be an indicator whether you can drag to that particular place or not.

LiveFreeze™ Column Freezing
WebGrid.NET Enterprise® 5.0 is the industry’s first WebGrid that successfully implementing Microsoft Excel® style column freezing feature. In this new version, WebGrid introduces LiveFreeze™ technology which enables users to "lively" perform column freezing and unfreezing in realtime without the need of postback or callback.
WebGrid's unique LiveFreeze™ architecture enables frozen columns to stay visible eventhough the horizontal scrollbar of the WebGrid is scrolled. Top five great results from LiveFreeze™ implementation are:

• High performance scrolling. The Grid is capable to handle fast scrolling by either dragging the scrollbar's thumb or click on the left and right arrow.
• Excel® scrolling behavior. When scrolled, hidden columns must be entirely hidden (instead of partially).
• Splitter indicator at column header and cell to let users easily determine the current state of frozen columns.
• Works with all existing WebGrid’s functions and FlyPostBack (AJAX) actions such as Grouping, Sorting and Filtering.
• "Lively" perform freezing and unfreezing in realtime. No AJAX callback or postback is required.

New Resizable TextBox Editing Control
WebGrid.NET Enterprise has introduced rich editing experience since the initial version, such as ability to perform data editing directly inside the Grid. Additionally, WebGrid also includes several rich editing types that you can use in the WebGrid.
In version 5.0, WebGrid.NET Enterprise® redefines the editing experience by introducing a new edit type, resizable text box edit control. The resizable text box makes it easy and convenience for user while editing cell containing larger amount of text. With this new feature, user can easily resize the text box by dragging the resize handler at the bottom right position.

When a cell has been modified, you can press enter to accept the modified value as in normal text box. Note that you can also move the textbox control by dragging the empty space in the bottom bar. Combine it with resizing feature to fit your need for your editing convenience.
